About The
ASR&SC
The
Abominable Slowmen Running and Social Club was established in the
spring of 2005 and is rapidly becoming one of the fastest growing
running and social clubs in existence. The Slowmen attract runners
of all abilities from the recreational jogger to the elite
marathoner. The
founding members wanted to add a social element to the often
monotonous task of running.
The result is a club that never takes itself too seriously
and has a ton of fun trying just to put one foot in front of the
other. The slowmen live
by the motto “JUST FINISH”.
One thing
the Abominable Slowmen do take seriously are the charities that they
help raise money for.
Since inception, the club has raised thousands of dollars for
local and national charitable groups that include: The American
Cancer Society, American Lung Association, The Rothman Institute,
The Helen Diller Home for Blind Children, The Coopertown Civic
Association, The St. Malachy School, The Clean Air Council and many
more.
If you would like to have some fun, do a little slow running
and help raise some money for a few good causes, please join
us! Click on the Contact
Us Link.... Fill out some information and a Slowman will be
in touch.
Slowmen Creed
I (State your name) have joined the ASR&SC to promote friendship, some sense of
physical conditioning and overall bettering of my life. As a
member of the ASR&SC I understand that certain words and phrases
will never be uttered at an ASR&SC endorsed event. They include,
but are not limited to:
- How fast did you
run?
- What was your
time?
- What is your personal
best?
- I should not have had that many ____ last
night.
- I could have run this
faster.
At ASR&SC Sponsored events I understand
that the final club member cannot cross the finish line alone.
At least two runners need to cross the finish line together. NO
SLOWMEN WILL BE LEFT
BEHIND!
